Player Profiles

Iain MacFarlane Aged 21 and as this seasons Captain, Iain has led by example. His strong running and immense determination to be successful has been the cornerstone to the side’s performances all season. Not just a player that works tirelessly to break up opposition attacks; Iain is also an excellent passer of the ball. Another to receive first team recognition, but perhaps not as early in the season as he deserved.

Paul Borg Still only 20, Paul seems to have been with the club forever. His excellent form in goal has seen him named both Players’ Player of the Year and Player of the Year for the reserves this season. Has also earned good reviews from his first team appearances lately. The most meticulously prepared player in the squad, his agility and bravery has formed the foundation of this season’s achievements.

Ricky Bell Youth team goalkeeper, Ricky has found his opportunities in the senior side restricted due to the excellent form of Paul Borg. On his rare outings though, Ricky has played very well. His goalkeeping prowess was recognised earlier in the season when he was selected for England Schoolboys, making the final squad of 22 after a series of trials at Bisham Abbey.

Colin Hartburn A foot injury frustrated Colin’s progress in the early part of the season, but he has gone from strength to strength since breaking into the reserves in January. Still only 17, Colin has established himself firmly in the side and has also been considered for first team action. An excellent reader of the game and whilst thought of as a cultured player, also has that mean streak needed by every successful player.

Stuart May Returning to the club from Dorking at the start of the season, Stuart has found the form that saw him become a first team regular with the Robins a few years ago. Still only 23, Stuart’s defensive attributes have contributed to the reserves’ best defensive record for over twenty years. When given the chance, Stuart also links well with midfield and he has helped set up numerous goals with his searching passes and crosses.

Des Manso Our senior player at 30, but age is of no concern to Des. He is hugely important to the side for his organisation and vocal command of the players around him. Equally happy in midfield or defence and occasionally seen marauding past the strikers, Des has enjoyed another good season. Scored a contender for goal of the season against Aldershot Town with a tremendous overhead volley.

Robert Ladd Another product of the Robins youth set-up. Aged 19, Robert has been playing for the reserves for the last three years. Considers himself a traditional centre-half and has the bruises to prove it. He defiantly dealt with being dropped for a period mid-season, but has come back a stronger and better player. Still learning his trade, but has the strength of character to make a good career in non-league football.

Daniel Greenleaf Danny joined the club in the summer having returned to the area from university, where he enjoyed trials with Bristol City. Aged 22, Dan’s versatility has seen him play in a variety of positions in defence and also up front where he has scored a number of important goals, especially in the cups. A very fit lad, Dan recently competed in the London Marathon for the second time.

Tommy Wright Tommy has recently returned to the club after successfully completing his three months training for the Police. Prior to this period, Tommy was arguably our most consistent and best performing player. Quick, strong and decisive, Tommy has led the defence with growing assuredness. At 22, he has also represented the first team both this season and last.

Mark Abbott Aged 23, Mark joined the club this season, having spent two years with Gloucester City in the Dr. Martens League, where he made 56 first team appearances. Mark is one of the most competitive and vociferous players in the squad. His ability to work tirelessly from box to box has been integral to the side’s success since Christmas. Well respected by his team-mates and a leader in all but name.

Scott Kinch Fan’s favourite, Scott has enjoyed yet another roller-coaster season. An inspirational player within the reserves, at just 20 Scott has already made numerous first team appearances. But for his injury problems, Scott would have been a regular first team player long ago. Has already scored over a dozen goals from midfield this year and is renowned for his highly charged playing style, competitive nature and wicked sense of humour.

Andy Lee Aged 19, Andy has also progressed via the youth team. Equally happy in defence or midfield, Andy’s resolve has brought him back from a serious injury, which saw him miss three months of the season. Now re-established in the side, Andy is another favourite of the Robin’s fans given his combative nature and intelligent use of the ball. Also renowned for being our most vain player.

Sean Campbell At just 26, Sean is considered one of the senior members of the squad. Joined Carshalton Athletic mid-season from St.Leonard’s Stamcroft in the Dr.Martens League where he made a number of first team appearances. Soon established himself on the right hand side of midfield and his surging runs, accurate crosses and occasional goal have been a useful addition to the squad.

Jack Kenny Another new signing in the summer, Jack has been involved in all but one of our fixtures this season. Established in the side since December, Jack has added pace and tenacity to the squad. The return to fitness of Andy Lee, however, has limited Jack’s appearances in the last month. A popular member of the squad, at 20, Jack will be determined to make the left hand side his own next season.

Ellis Conroy Youth team captain, Ellis, was promoted into the reserves mid-way through the season at just 16. Although his appearances have been limited due to the strength of competition in central midfield, Ellis has still proved himself competent at this level. He has settled well into the senior environment and has also represented Surrey County U18’s this season.

Tim Murdoch Aged 17, Tim has produced an excellent season in our youth team, where he collected the Player of the Year award. A hard working, competitive midfield player, Tim also possesses good vision, which is accompanied by his accomplished passing. Not afraid to shoot from distance, Tim has acquitted himself well in the reserves and could feature more prominently next season.

Kevin Lock Kevin has made a number of appearances for the first team and also gained valuable experience on loan with Epsom & Ewell. At 19, Kevin is another who has progressed steadily through the youth and reserves into the first team. In addition to finishing top goalscorer in the reserves, he has also created many goals due to his tremendous fitness and unselfish work for the team.

Isaac Jackson Aged 23, Isaac is in his third season with the club. An absolute nightmare to mark, because of his pace, balance and wiry frame, Isaac has caused problems for numerous defenders this year. He was rewarded with a first team call-up earlier in the year, but work commitments have seen his season stifled since Christmas. Returning for the semi-final, Isaac created the winning goal against Crawley Town and will be hoping for a repeat today.

Moses Jjunju Joined in January following brief spells with Hastings Town and Bromley this season. Aged 19, Moses gained a first team call-up after just one game with the reserves and has since scored over a dozen goals. Not renowned for his time keeping, Moses has begun to settle into non-league football and has been an important addition to the side.

Emver Hasa A recent addition to the squad, having been recommended from a local side. Emver has patiently waited for his opportunities, which have generally been restricted to Suburban Shield fixtures. Made a big impact last week though, by coming off the bench to score a second-half hat-trick against Walton Casuals. Although still adjusting to the demands of senior football, Emver may just produce a few surprises tonight.

Brian Baker Manager. In his second season with Carshalton, having initially just agreed to take over in a caretaker capacity. Brian is demanding of his players, yet quietly proud of their achievements as individuals and as a squad this season. Determined to see his team play attractive, yet effective football, Brian has also fostered an excellent spirit within the squad.

Simon Crockett Assistant Manager. Joined the management team this season, having previously enjoyed a successful partnership with Brian Baker at Croydon F.C. Has proved an invaluable asset to the reserve team set-up and a good foil for the Manager’s stubborn single-mindedness. Perhaps doesn’t always get the recognition he deserves for his role in the partnership.

Tania Clarke Physio. Tania has been with the club for a number of years now, which she combines with her work at Fulham F.C. She has again been an important part of the club in nursing the injured back to fitness. A popular figure to have in the changing room, she always seems to get a better response from the players than if Brian or Simon run on the pitch.

John Johnstone Kit Manager. Joined the Robins at the beginning of the season, and has been on the non-league circuit for many years. Has a wealth of experience having enjoyed spells as Manager, Assistant Manager or Coach at a number of clubs including Hendon, Dulwich Hamlet, Croydon and Whyteleafe. A rare breed, and only found in one of two places – the kit room or the bar!
